Achter Haar is a Vrouw & Media podcast about solidarity, hosted by board members Manon van der Knaap-Hartig and Loeke de Waal.
In Achter Haar prominent women in media discuss solidarity; what it means to them and how it showed up in their career. Because you never get ahead alone. In every episode they highlight one particular instance of solidarity by honoring the other person involved and handing out the ‘Achter Haar certificate’. Guests included host Margreet Spijker (formerly WNL), columnist Japke-d. Bouma, editor-in-chief Rennie Rijpma (AD) and columnist Sheila Sitalsing (Volkskrant).
Achter Haar was released in collaboration with BNR and Villamedia on October 14th 2024.
Threesome of Speech is a podcast in which journalist Loeke de Waal blindly revisits iconic speeches with politician Gregory Edelenbos and adman Jonas van Praag.
‘I have a dream’, ‘Ich bin ein Berliner’, ‘How dare you?’: speeches for big events, victories or societal changes are often ingrained in our collective memory by legendary quotes. But how impressive, timeless or powerful is a speech when you read it out of context? That is what Threesome of Speech discovers. Each episode one host selects a speech and the other two go in blind; they don’t know who gave the speech, where it was given or when.
Threesome of Speech is a podcast by Gregory Edelenbos, Loeke de Waal & Jonas van Praag in collaboration with Audiohuis. Released on May 1st 2024.
‘Kunnen We Zonder’ (translated: ‘Can We Do Without’) was a podcast that explored the question: in a world that always pushes us to do and want more, what could we do without?
Together with fellow journalist and co-host Mari Meyer we would take on different topics by looking at examples from (popular) culture and science. From toxic positivity to grind culture, virgin shaming and hair removal. We interviewed experts and folks with lived experience who already live differently or who have consciously abandoned the behavior or concept we’re discussing. To get some inspiration for the future, we featured an artist or otherwise creative guest who provided a glimpse into a world without in the recurring ‘Philosophical Minute’.
With guests like ‘Becoming Clitorate’ author dr. Laurie Mintz, cartoonist/writer Henry Garrett, gender activist/artist Tijn De Jong, psychiatrist and writer of ‘The Art of Being Unhappy’ Dirk de Wachter, the feminist satirical page @themanwhohasitall, linguist Sterre Leufkens, civil society and philanthropy professor dr. Theo Schuyt, illustrator @eatmieliesweirdillustration and many more.
